First ever Oxford University Day for 51³Ô¹ÏÍøYear 11s
This week, we were delighted to take 49 Year 11 students on a day's experience at Oxford University exclusively for 51³Ô¹ÏÍøsecondary schools.
The Bridgemary, Havant and Miltoncross groups shared a minibus, and the rest of the schools travelled up by train.
The day was hosted by St Hugh's College, who are one of the leading Oxbridge colleges in the drive to widen university access to state school students.
The St Hugh's team works with lots of schools and students every year, and they were particularly impressed with the engagement, inquisitiveness and conduct of our students. They were all fantastic ambassadors for our schools and our trust.
The event started with talks about doing super curricular activities alongside your studies, choosing the right course and university, and applying to Oxbridge.
This was followed by a Q&A session and a tour of the college and its beautiful grounds with current undergraduate students.
After lunch, there was an opportunity to do an academic taster activity at the Ashmolean Museum or at the Natural History Museum.
The students and staff really enjoyed the event. One teacher said, "Thank you to 51³Ô¹ÏÍøfor organising a great day. Our students really enjoyed the experience."
